Summer 2009 Newsletter Will it ever stop raining! It doesn't feel like summer yet but we've been sneaking in some rides in between the rain drops. My 15 year old daughter decided she wanted to do the Pan Mass Challenge this summer so I signed up with her and we've been doing a lot of training rides. For those of you who are not from around here, the PMC is a gigantic fund raiser bike ride that supports the Dana Farber Cancer Institute in Boston. It started back in 1980 and last year over 5,000 people participated and raised $35 million! There are different rides to choose from, the longest being a 2 day 200 mile schlep from Sturbridge to Provincetown. Luckily, the teenagers are only allowed to pick the 1 day 47 miler (phew!). The Redbones Bike to Work Week Party was a huge success. Moving the date to June instead of May (when it always rained) and somehow finagling it so we could drink beer outside contributed to the record turnout, over 700! Check out our pictures. The guy who won Mike's raffle bike was really excited which made Mike feel really awesome since he almost sliced off his thumb making it! Special thanks to Mike the Mailman for helping us set up and working the booth with us ☺ We've set the date for our ANT Open House which will be Saturday, October 17. We like to pick the weekend after Columbus Day weekend since we find that a lot of people are busy with weddings, etc. that weekend. We love October since we can enjoy the awesome Fall foliage and cooler temperatures. More detailed information will be posted soon. There was a chance that we were going to move the shop to Medfield but it looks like that is on hold for a while. Mike has sold a bunch of machines and is currently rearranging the entire shop. I can't wait to see it when it's done and I bet you will too! Our summer trips are all planned. This year we'll be going to Texas, Cape Cod, and of course, Martha's Vineyard. We'll be posting updates and pictures since we will be bringing various bikes and people with us so stay tuned! Ride on.... Sincerely, Betsy and Mike |
